Franklin Templeton Investments introduced its Franklin LibertyShares fund platform in Germany with the launch of four Smart Beta ETFs. The SmartBeta shares ETFs are listed on Deutsche Börse.
“Over the past three years our strategic goal has been to build a world-class global ETF platform. After the successful launch in the US and Canada, Franklin brings LibertyShares ETF platform to Europe”, said Patrick O’Connor, head of Global ETFs at Franklin Templeton Investments.
“The four funds from our offering will help investors achieve tangible investment results, such as good risk-adjusted returns with comparatively low volatility while providing protection against downside risks.”
The Franklin LibertyQ Ucits ETF fund series gives investors access to the tailor-made Franklin LibertyQ indices. The composition of these indices is based on the weighting of the four factors (high) quality, (attractive) valuation, (strong) momentum and (low) volatility using an internal tailor-made model. The four funds aim to achieve higher risk-adjusted returns and lower volatility than comparable products in their investment unions.
The fund range includes two multi-factor equity funds with a particular emphasis on quality stocks:
– The Franklin LibertyQ Global Equity SRI Ucits ETF invests globally in equities that, according to Franklin Templeton, meet the criteria of ecologically and socially responsible investments. It tracks the performance of the LibertyQ Global Equity SRI Index. The shares included in this index are selected from the MSCI AC World SRI Index based on a multi-factor selection process, with a particular focus on quality.
– The Franklin LibertyQ US Equity Ucits ETF invests in large and mid-caps from the US and aims to improve the performance of LibertyQ US Large Cap Equity Index. The shares included in this index are selected from the Russell 1000 Index, based on a number of factors, taking into account the quality factor.
And two yield-oriented funds investing in stocks with high and stable dividend yields:
– The Franklin LibertyQ Global Dividend Ucits ETF invests worldwide in first-class equities. It tracks the performance of the LibertyQ Global Dividend Index. The shares included in this index are selected from the MSCI AC World ex-Reits Index on the basis of the dividend resistance and amount of the distribution, and finally the quality.
– The Franklin LibertyQ European Dividend Ucits ETF invests in first-class stocks of European industrialized countries. It reflects the performance of the LibertyQ European Dividend Index. The shares included in this index are derived from the MSCI AC Europe IMI ex-Reits Index in Germany.
“The launch of the first Franklin LibertyQ ETFs marks an important milestone for us and coincides with our 25th anniversary in Germany. “Liberty” means freedom and Franklin Templeton now offers its customers the freedom to make decisions beyond traditional, traditionally funded fund solutions to a basket of purely quantitatively controlled ETFs. We see our new Smart Beta ETF series as an important addition to our offering as a result of ongoing demand for exchange-traded funds”, commented Reinhard Berben, managing director of Franklin Templeton Investments in Germany.
