Belgian fund market down 2.7% qoq in Q1 2016

The Belgian asset management association, Beama, has reported a 2.7% drop quarter-on-quarter of the Belgian fund market in Q1 2016.

As at end of March 2016, total net assets managed in funds publicly distributed in Belgium reached €168.06bn.

Assets managed in fixed income funds distributed in Belgium have slumped by 1.7% qoq and amounted to €30.53bn in Q1 2016.

Money market funds have faced outflows and recorded a 7.2% loss in assets in comparison with Q4 2015. Some €17.18bn were managed in this type of strategies available in Belgium.

Equity strategies have also seen a 5% drop in assets at the end of Q1 2016 despite net inflows recorded. As at end March 2016, assets managed by equity funds in Belgium amounted to €43.03bn.

Multi-asset funds have been the most resilient in Q1 2016 in Belgium with net inflows covering the drop in the valuation of underlying assets.

Some €67.14bn were managed in multi-asset funds available in Belgium as of end March 2016.

As at end of Q1 2016, Belgium-domiciled funds managed €124.21bn in assets.
