T. Rowe Price announced the appointment of Maria Elena Drew as director of Research, Responsible Investing. In this role, Drew will deepen the firm’s research on environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations and focus on the continued incorporation of this analysis into the firm’s investment decisions. ESG considerations are increasingly important to many of the firm’s clients and prospects.
Drew will partner with Donna Anderson, head of Corporate Governance, and work closely with T. Rowe Price’s investment teams to develop and integrate an ESG framework across geographies and asset classes. Adding her expertise to the firm’s existing corporate governance capabilities also allows for a more holistic approach to integration of ESG factors into the firm’s investment process. Drew will report to Rob Sharps, group chief investment officer and co-head of Global Equity. She will be based in London.
Drew joins T. Rowe Price from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, where she worked for nine years as an equity analyst, portfolio manager and ESG specialist. Prior to this, she worked in various research analyst roles. In total, she has 20 years of investment experience. She is a graduate of Smith College.
Rob Sharps, group chief investment officer and co-head of Global Equity, commented: “Environmental, social and governance factors are important in any comprehensive investment research process. We are pleased to have someone of Drew’s calibre and experience on our team to further develop and integrate ESG considerations into our investment process.”
