Norwegian boutique Odin has announced the appointment of advisory board members, whose business competencies are intended to facilitate the development of the manager’s business.

Vegard Søraunet, director and senior portfolio manager of the Sverige and Norden equity funds, said the objective was to find people with deep industry and sector knowledge to match the existing expertise within Odin’s management team.

The advisory board will contribute to the management of Odin’s various funds, through unique insight and networks. The board will chiefly contribute through forums and dialogue around themes in the management of funds. Understanding long term trends and sectors will be important, Søraunet added.

“Changes are occurring fast and knowledge from people with long experience from different sectors is valuable. Our daily work is very much about working to obtain the best possible knowledge to find the best investment ideas for the funds. We need access to experienced leaders and professionals. This will make us better at identifying good companies and avoiding those that are in danger of losing their competitive edge.”

The three appointees announced by Odin include: Swedes Bertil Persson and  Anders Berg, and Norwegian Amund Skarholt. All have extensive experience of Swedish and Norwegian business.

“Berg and Persson have been part of Odin’s network for several years,” noted Søraunet.

Persson was head of Swedish firm Beijer Alma from 2000 to 2017. Before that he was executive vice president at LGP Telecom, and before that was director of Finance at Scania from 1995 to 1998. Currently, he holds a number of board positions in Sweden.

Berg was previously CEO of Swedish firm Lindab Group, between 2013 to 2017. Before that he was vice president Operations at Swedish Steet (SSAB). Before that he was managing directly at Plannja from 2004 to 2010. Today he is a board member of Runway Safe in addition to being on Odin’s advisory board.

Skarholt was executive vice president in Securitas Group, and headed Bravida and Tomra Systems from 1991 to 2009. Previously, he worked at IBM and Nordenfjeldske Damskibsselskab. In recent years he has held a number of board positions in Swedish and Norwegian businesses.
