TCA appoints Bill Fickling in boost to private equity small cap lending
TCA has appointed Bill Fickling as manager of the TCA Opportunities Fund I, which invests in small cap private equity holdings across the US, Australia, UK and rest of Europe in the medical, energy, food services, IT and security sectors.
Fickling has worked in the financial industry for some 40 years. In 2005 as vice president of Mulberry Street Investment Company, his family’s private investment arm, he oversale the sale of Beech Street Corporation to Concentral for $170m. TCA founding partner and CEO Bob Press said the decision to hire Fickling came following the decision to launch a private equity fund.
In his new role, Fickling will be responsible for overseeing portfolio investments and securing retursn from equity positions where TCA has capital invested. The Opportunities Fund I will typically target small cap businesses that can benefit from $5m-$15m in working capital.
“In the current market, there just aren’t that many players willing and able to invest at that level,” Fickling said.
