US asset management giant BlackRock appoints Dirk Schmitz as new head of business in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe.
Schmitz succeeds Christian Staub and takes over the management of the business in Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe from 22 January.
Staub has been responsible for the Institutional Clients business in continental Europe at Blackrock since August. He remains responsible for the Swiss market.
Schmitz brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to the investment industry. Most recently, he was responsible for investment banking in Germany at Deutsche Bank. In the past, Schmitz also worked in investment trading and distribution for Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan and worked in New York, London and Frankfurt.
