UK manager Martin Currie will launch a Luxembourg-domiciled emerging markets product later in the year, subject to regulatory approval.

Managed by the firm’s head of emerging markets Kim Catechis with a team of seven behind him, the Martin Currie GF ‐ Global Emerging Markets Fund will select 40 to 60 “best ideas” for its actively managed portfolio.

No constraints will be placed at country or sector level, the firm said. The fund will use the MSCI global emerging markets index as its benchmark.

The move follows a host of emerging market fund launches over the past week or so by other managers, including an ETF product from Bank of America Merrill Lynch with Source, the first fund from Generation Asset Management, J O Hambro Capital Management, and Skandia International which added two Skandia emerging markets funds to its offshore range.

Martin Currie’s fund, which sits within a Sicav, is open to investors in Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. It is available in dollar, sterling and euro share classes.

PruSelect/Allianz RCM BRIC Stars Fund

Prudential has selected Allianz Global Investors company RCM’s flagship BRIC fund to give its investors access to emerging markets.

Managed by Michael Konstantinov and co-managed by Guido Stiel, the fund launched back in 2006 and has 66 holdings. The fund has gathered assets of £868.58mn.

Now within the PruSelect fund range, it is available as Prudential life and pension funds through the firm’s investment plan, flexible investment plan and flexible retirement plan.
