Investec Asset Management has hired Elias Erickson as a portfolio manager within the Investec quality team, based in New York and co-headed by Clyde Rossouw and Simon Brazier.
Subject to regulatory approval, Erickson will manage a portfolio of global equities following the team’s quality approach. The team is further supported by the significant platform provided by Investec Asset Management’s team of investment professionals.
Erickson joins from Thornburg Investment Management where he was a co-portfolio manager of the Thornburg Global Opportunities Fund as well as a managing director. Formerly, he held positions at Dodge & Cox Funds and Lehman Brothers/Barclays Capital.
Philip Anker, managing director of Investec Asset Management’s North American institutional business, said: “Adding Elias’s expertise to our investment capability in New York further cements our commitment to helping our North American clients access compelling global and international investment opportunities.
“We believe positioning his expertise within the Investec Quality Team alongside our Global Franchise and dedicated regional strategies offers asset owners public equities exposure that seeks to provide asymmetric upside / downside capture in what is now a relatively mature bull market.’
Investec announced a vast succession plan at the start of last month. John Green and Mimi Ferrini will become deputy CEOs of Investec Asset Management on 1 April 2018 and as from 1 October 2018, joint CEOs of the business.
The company had $140bn (€114.1bn) of assets under management as of end December 2017.
