London-headquartered Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed Nigel Masding as lead manager of the Real Income Builder fund within its active equity team.
He reports to Nick Hartley, head of Inflation Plus strategies within LGIM’s Active Equities team
Masding joins LGIM from Longview Partners, where he was a partner and global equities research analyst. Formerly, he was a senior equities portfolio manager at HSBC Halbis Capital Management. He has also held roles at First State Investments and McKinsey & Company.
The L&G Real Income Builder fund was launched in January 2015, targeting income and capital growth and aiming to generate an income that grows by 4% more than UK inflation per annum as well as a total return of 4% more than UK inflation per annum if the income is reinvested.
Masding’s addition to the active equity team follows that of Stephen Message on 8 August as fund manager focusing on UK income strategies. He reports to Rod Oscroft, head of the High Alpha and Global Equity Income teams, within the Active Equities team.
Message was previously at Old Mutual Global Investors, where he managed the Old Mutual UK Equity Income Fund.
Hartley said Masding and Message’s appointments reflected the firm’s commitment to developing LGIM’s active equity proposition.
LGIM had £957.2bn (€1.03trn) of assets under management as of end of June 2017.
