Martin Currie, the affiliate of Legg Mason, has appointed both a head of EMEA distribution and head of Marketing as it seeks to push ahead on distribution developments.

The manager has appointed Nigel Murdoch to the EMEA role. Joining from BlackRock, most recently as managing director for the Middle East based in Dubai, he will be responsible at Martin Currie for driving business development across the region. Before BlackRock, he held sales roles at BNP Paribas and Goldman Sachs.

Irene Brodie takes up the head of Marketing role, where she will be responsible for marketing strategy across institutional and wholesale channels. She previously worked at Aberdeen Standard Investments, heading marketing channels in the UK, Europe, Asia and North America. Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Aegon and Britannic Asset Management are other businesses she has worked for.

Willie Watt, chief executive at Martin Currie, said the combined skills of the newly appointed members of the Martin Currie team would help the manager further distributed the active equity investment solutions it offers.
