Swiss manager Lombard Odier IM (LOIM) has hired Vilas Gadkari, Giuseppe Sette and Jan Szilagyi to form the firm’s dedicated global macro team and expand its alternative investment capabilities.
Gadkari, who has 25 years of experience, previously held senior portfolio management roles at Brevan Howard Asset Management and Salomon Brothers Asset Management.
Sette joins from Endowment Advisors he founded in 2012. Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager at Brevan Howard and Davidson Kempner. Sette started his investment career in 2003 advising on private equity and has 12 years of investment experience.
Szilagyi was hitherto working as a global macro portfolio manager at Fortress Investment Group and Duquesne Capital. He has over 15 years of experience in global macro strategies.
On 1 October 2015, the firm has launched a Ucits compliant global macro strategy with $150m (€133.2m) domiciled in Luxembourg. The fund targets annual returns of 10% with a volatility of 8 to 10%.
The strategy aims to benefit from macroeconomic themes across all asset classes and regions. The team’s portfolio construction relies on a proprietary research platform as the team seek to implement a transparent and repeatable process.
The fund will be registered for sale across Europe over the next weeks and will strengthen LOIM’s alternative Ucits range that already includes a US focused equity long/short strategy, LO Funds–Fundamental Equity Long / Short and a systematic offering strategy LO Funds–Alternative Risk Premia.
