AXA’s multimanagement subsidiary Architas has hired Mayank Markanday as investment manager.
He will co-manage a number of portfolios including the Diversified Real Assets fund, the Diversified Global Income fund and the MM Monthly High Income fund.
Markanday will also act as deputy portfolio manager on the multi-asset blended range. In addition, he will be the investment leader for UK fixed income and alternative fixed income, including asset-backed securities.
Prior to joining Architas, Markanday worked at Russell Investments where he served as portfolio manager of the Russell Real Assets fund as well as deputy portfolio manager on the Russell Multi-Asset Growth fund and global equity manager research analyst.
Jaime Arguello, chief investment officer at Architas, said: “Mayank has extensive experience in creating and running multi-asset and multi-manager portfolios. This fits perfectly with the Architas investment approach. While his fixed income and real assets knowledge means he is well suited to co-managing our range of specialist funds.
“Mayank will co-manage the Diversified Real Assets fund that is now over £200m (€223.8m) just three years since launch. This fund continues to appeal to advisers who are seeking diversification within portfolios as well as a degree of inflation protection and a potential income stream.
“He will also manage the Diversified Global Income fund and the Monthly High Income fund which are both part of our suite of income funds. Given changes in the market, including the increased flexibility for those retiring, we believe demand will continue to grow for those products that can potentially deliver an income for clients.”
