BNP Paribas Group has strengthened its wealth management in Germany with the appointment of Michael Arends as chief executive officer, effective September 2018.
Arends will report to Rémi Frank, global head of large accounts at BNP Paribas Wealth Management, and to Lutz Diederichs, Germany’s CEO of BNP Paribas.
Apart from expanding wealth management in Germany, he will be responsible for looking after new customer groups. His future colleague Marcel Becker will be responsible for the development of existing private banking activities as head of Private Banking Germany. There will also be a strong focus on technical innovations and digitisation.
Arends joins from Bethmann Bank, where he has been a member of the board since 2013. Prior to this, he worked for ABN Amro since 2012.
