New senior portfolio manager at Fidelity

Fidelity Worldwide Investment has appointed Jeremy Podger as a senior portfolio manager in its global equity team where he will manage the company's $2.5bn global special situations fund. He replaces Jorma Korhonen who is leaving the company.

He joins in March and will report to Dominic Rossi, global chief investment officer for equities. He will work closely with Richard Lewis, the recently-appointed head of global equities.

Podger has strong track record in the management of global equities. He joins from Threadneedle where he is head of global equities and the manager of the company's global select and global extended Alpha funds.

Until Podger's arrival the management of global special situations has passes to Sudipto Banerji.

Threadneedle appoints new head of global equities

Threadneedle has appointed William Davies as head of global equities. Davies has headed the company's European equities team since 1999 and he will focus on expanding the firm's global equities franchise in international markets.

He replaces Jeremy Podger who has moved to a position at Fidelity.

Davies joined the company at its inception in 1994. He has headed its European equities team since 1999 and during that time has grown assets under management by €5.5bn. The team currently manages around €11bn in assets.

Davies will oversee a 10-strong team including fund manager Neil Robson who joined Threadneedle in October. Robson joined from Martin Currie Investment Management where he was global portfolio manager. Prior to that, he was head of global equities and then head of equities at Pioneer Asset Management.

Philip Dicken has been promoted to head of European equities. Within the European equities team Dan Ison remains head of pan-European and Paul Doyle will become head of continental, both reporting to Dicken.

Baring AM strengthens multi-asset team

Baring Asset Management has appointed Matthew Whitbread as an investment manager in its multi-asset team. He will report to Hayes Miller, head of multi-asset for North America based in Boston.
 
Whitbread has 12 years' investment experience and joins from Boston-based Fundquest Incorporated where he was a portfolio manager with asset allocation responsibilities. Prior to this, he was a senior portfolio adviser with Pyramis Global Advisers and was in the equity research team at MFS Investment Management.
 
The Barings multi-asset team, formed in 2002, comprises eight portfolio managers and two analysts, and manages assets of £5.7bn.

Frontier IM expands its business development team
Multi-asset and alternative investment company Frontier Investment Management has appointed Jill Laidlaw and Conor O’Donnell to its business development team.

Laidlaw joins from Zurich Intermediary Group where she worked as a senior consultant in the Scotland and Northern Ireland sales team and was responsible for creating and building relationships with a panel of independent financial advisers.

O’Donnell previously was at Montreux Capital Management as a sales director where he worked with a wide range of IFAs based in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
