Lazard AM bolsters distribution arm with hire

Lazard Asset Management has appointed Stephan Heitz as managing director and head of Lazard Fund Managers (LFM), the distribution branch of the manager addressing continental Europe clients.

Based in Zurich, Heitz will be responsible for both retail and institutional sales and marketing for LFM in Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Before joining the company, Heitz had a nine-year stint at AXA Investment Managers as head of Continental Europe. He was chief executive officer of Swiss Life Asset Managers between 2001 and 2008.

Heitz also served in investment banking for ABN Amro from 1993 to 2001 and for Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS) from 1989 to 1993.

As of end June 2018, Lazard AM and affiliated asset management companies managed $238bn (€205.8bn) in assets.
