ASI appoints ex-BlackRock retail sales head

Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) has appointed ex-BlackRock retail sales head Alex Hoctor-Duncan to expand its distribution capabilities.
Hoctor-Duncan joins as global sales director and head of distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has been appointed to improve the effectiveness of Aberdeen Standard’s sales force following the merger between Standard Life Investments and Aberdeen Asset Management last year.
Reporting to Cambell Fleming, he will work alongside ASI’s chief operating officer for distribution Andrew November to accelerate the sales efforts of the firm’s active quant and private market offerings.
Hoctor-Duncan joins from BlackRock where he held a number of roles, most recently as head of its EMEA retail business. He was also head of retail sales, EMEA, at BlackRock.
Edris Alrafi has been appointed as head of Middle East and Africa. Based in Abu-Dhabi, Alrafi succeeds Nigel Norman who is retiring. He will lead a seven-strong team in the region.
