French equity manager resurfaces at new boutique

Former French small-mid cap equity portfolio manager and partner at Twenty First Capital Louis Albert, has resurfaced at new Paris-based boutique IDAM he co-founded with Stéphane Baudin, InvestmentEurope has learned.

IDAM has received the approval of French financial market regulator AMF on 3 August 2017. Baudin is chairman of the firm, focused on French and European small-mid caps, while Albert is chief investment officer and managing partner.

IDAM is part of IRH SA, the investment holding company of a French group established in the financial and media sectors. Among others, IRH SA shelters Paris-based research company IDMidCaps focused on listed small and mid caps.

The chairman of newly-created boutique IDAM Baudin served previously as chief investment officer within the insurance business of HSBC in France. Moreover he was a member of the executive committee. Baudin also led the insurance and brokerage activities of JP Morgan in Europe. In addition, he has been involved in the launch of the first Novi funds aiming at raising assets from major French institutional investors to finance small and mid-sized enterprises in France.

Albert, who previously managed the ID France Smidcaps fund during his tenure at Twenty First Capital, now runs the IDAM Small France cap (former Delta France Smid Caps) strategy. He works alongside Jérôme Chassin, who joined IDAM as small-mid cap analyst.

The boutique has taken over the management of the fund, launched in December 2013 and formerly run by Delta Alternative Management, on 18 September 2017.

The IDAM Small France fund seeks to outperform the CAC Mid & Small Index Net Dividends Reinvested, combining bottom-up and stock-picking approaches.

IDAM also provides mandate management services with 15 years’ experienced private wealth manager Kevin Thompson. Lastly, the former head of Business Development at Twenty First Capital Noémie Venot is commercial director of the new boutique.
