Unigestion launches private equity fund

Swiss asset manager Unigestion has launched private equity fund for small and medium-sized enterprises. The Unigestion Global Choice VII is reportedly a global small and mid-market investment program that continues the fund’s Unicapital Global and Euro Choice series.
Unigestion Global Choice VII is aiming to achieve €300m. The aim is to build a portfolio of around 30 special funds focusing on buyouts, growth capital and selected special situations in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.
In line with Unigestion’s conviction-driven investment style, the private equity team will continue to seek areas of growth, spot attractive investment themes and focus exclusively on managers with proven industrial and strategic transformation skills. Several fund investments have already been pre-selected for the programme, including some secondary investments to kick-start the portfolio.
Christophe de Dardel, head of Private Equity at Unigestion, said: “The current market conditions require investors more than ever to work with specialists that are able to identify off-market opportunities and provide access to specialist funds.”
Unigestion is convinced that the small and mid-market continues to be the most interesting and attractive private equity segment. The study indicates that an optimally diversified global small-cap portfolio should not only outperform a more concentrated large-cap portfolio, but should also deliver a similar performance, with less risk, as a comparable regional portfolio.
