The Association of Professional Fund Investors (APFI) has appointed Bella Caridade-Ferreira, CEO of Fundscape, to its Advisory Board, bringing some 20 years of experience in research and analysis of UK, European and Asian fund management industries.

Caridade-Ferreira established Fundscape in 2010, as a research house specialising in end-to-end analysis of the UK fund industry. It publishes the Platform Report quarterly, which monitors and analyses the fund platform distribution channel. She is also the architect of the Gatekeepers database, which assesses the quality of professional fund selection in the UK. For consumers, she launched Comparetheplatform.com, to assist in identifying investment platforms for particular needs.

Before setting up Fundscape, Caridade-Ferreira worked for Lipper FMI as global head of Research and Publications. In this role she authored publications and reports including the European and Asian Data Digests, the Fund Market Profile report series, and the UK Platform guide. Before that, she worked in investment banking and in consulting, specialising in market entry strategies for retail and institutional asset managers.

The Advisory Board operated by the APFI draws on expertise from around the world, to support the Association’s objectives including development of  best practice in the areas of research, analysis, due diligence and selection of funds.

Jon “JB” Beckett, APFI director and Advisory Board secretary, added: “Bella is well known in fund management circles for her strategic analysis and commentary of fund gatekeeper behaviours. Specifically, her role and past work on fund distribution, regulation analysis, fund buyer studies (the Gatekeeper report) and the Great British Wealth Off are well-regarded. It is really such a privilege to have somebody of the calibre of Bella on our Advisory Board.”
