Aviva Investors has appointed Paolo Sarno its head of Wholesale, Southern Europe, with a primary focus on Italy, which is one of the fastest growing mutual fund markets in Europe.

Based in Milan, he will be supported by the Southern Europe client servicing team. Aviva Investors said it plans to “add further resources” to serve its growing customer base in the region. Sarno will report to TJ Voskamp, global head of Wholesale Distribution.

Sarno joins from La Financière de l’Echiquier, where he was country head and launched the Italian branch of the French asset manager. There he was responsible for growing the client base in Italy, Monaco and Ticino.

Voskamp said the appointment marked Aviva Investors commitment to growing its distribution presence in the Italian wholesale market.
