Santander Asset Management strengthened its fund selection team with the appointment of Cipriano Sancho, who yesterday joins the Manager Research and Selection team headed by José María Martínez-Sanjuán.
Sancho, who will be based in Madrid, will work alongside Ángel Lara as an absolute return and alternative strategies analyst. With professional experience spanning 18 years, Cipriano Sancho previously worked at BBVA Asset Management Quality Funds, where he was head of quantitative analysis processes from 2013, and specialised in absolute return funds. He previously held different positions at BBVA Asset Management. He has also worked at Inversis Banco and Allfunds Bank.
Santander Asset Management has recently added another three new recruits to this team, which has around €46bn in assets under management or supervision globally. In July 2016, Ángel Lara joined the Madrid team from Banco Sabadell, while in May last year Wee-Tsen Lee and Pryesh Emrith joined the London selection office. The team now comprises nine people, of whom five work at SAM’s London office and four in Madrid.
