The securities and asset management company GVC Gaesco has been the latest company to announce it is moving headquarters out of Catalonia, in particular, to 3 Marqués de Villamagna in Madrid.

In a statement released on 9 October, the company said its managing board had already made the decision last September after having completed an integration process with Bekafinance (former Bankia Bolsa), in order to guarantee the interests of its clients, while ensuring the entity remains operating in a stable framework.

It added the transfer would not entail the movement of its employees nor will affect the development of its business.

The announcement follows the path traced out by Caixabank, Banco Sabadell, Gas Natural Fenosa, Mediolanum or Naturhouse which are some of the companies that have announced they are moving headquarters out of Catalonia in order to guarantee continued access to the rest of Spain and the European Union in the face of a hypothetical secession.
