The asset management subsidiary of Austrian bank Erste Group, Erste AM, has announced the appointments of Stepan Mikolasek as head of Equities and Peter Szopo as chief equity strategist (CES) and head of Equity in Vienna.
Mikolasek will be responsible for the recently created equity management team of Erste AM, accounting 20 experts. He will be in charge of all equity-related activities in the Erste group.
“Through the restructuring we are creating one single cross-border team of equity specialists, with all experts contributing their know-how regardless of their location,” Mikolasek explains.
Erste AM has currently more than €4bn of assets under management in the area of actively managed equity funds and portfolios.
Mikolasek was chief investment officer and member of the board of Investiční společnost České spořitelny (ISCS), the Czech investment company of Erste AM group since 2013. Formerly, he was in charge of all actively managed funds of ISCS since 2005.
Szopo joined Erste AM in May 2013 as advisor for equity fund management in central and east European equity markets.He also worked for the Austrian institute of economic research (WIFO) and as securities specialist with several investment banks such as Alfa Bank and Creditanstalt Investmentbank.
As at 31 December 2014, Erste AM managed around €54.4bn spread on its locations in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.
