Spain’s asset manager Metagestión has added two fund managers to its investment team following the departure of three of its fund managers to launch the recently-created Horos AM.
Both Javier Martín and Alfonso Batalla, who will co-manage Metagestión’s investment and pension funds, raise to five the number of professionals comprising the manager’s investment team, currently formed by Rubén López, Julian Lirola and Ignacio Salido.
Before joining Metagestión, Martín held various roles at different companies. In 2014, he moved from Madrid to New York, where he worked as an equity senior analyst at BlueMar Capital Management. Prior to that, he worked as a financial analyst at A&G Funds. He started his career at Cuatrecasas, first at the banking and insurance department and later at the M&A unit.
Batalla joins from Mutuactivos, where he worked as an analyst at the investment management department. He formerly worked at Liberbank.
Metagestión announced recently it would take on research costs associated with the implementation of Mifid II. Led by Fernando Cifuentes, the firm has now €620m in assets under management.
