Investment consultant bfinance, involved in manager selection, has appointed Frithjof van Zyp as director of bfinance Australia.
Sydney’s office is the first opened by bfinance in the Asia Pacific region and Zyp will lead the firm’s expansion in the area.
In his new role, he will focus on the development of client relationships, engaging with major institutional investors across public and private pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and endowments.
Zyp will work with managing director Pal Sarai and bfinance adviser Melda Donnelly.
Zyp was previously and most recently senior vice-president and head of Data Services at eVestment, the investment intelligence data firm serving the institutional market, where he worked for 10 years.
The company’s manager selection process relies on the examination of all suitable managers with each fresh mandate, opening to a wider selection of candidate managers which grants access to innovative strategies to unlock value for investors.
bfinance Australia has recently recorded its fifth contract with an institutional investor.
The group has also been rewarded mandates including advisory on a $1bn alternative beta strategy program for a US corporate pension plan, a $1.2bn private equity search for Swedish State pension fund AP7, and multiple searches across asset classes on behalf of Australian superannuation funds.
