BlackRock Netherlands appoints former ING executive

BlackRock Netherlands appoints former ING executive

BlackRock Netherlands has appointed former ING CEO Jan Hommen as chairman for the group’s Dutch business.

In his new role, Hommen will take on a broad advisory role, aimed at maintaining and further enhancing the group’s relationships with clients, regulators and governmental bodies. He will also advise on the group’s  long-term business strategy for the Dutch market, in collaboration with BlackRock’s Dutch management team.

Rachel Lord, head of BlackRock EMEA comments on his appointment: “We are very pleased that Jan has joined BlackRock as Chairman of the Netherlands. Known as one of the leading CEOs of his generation, Jan brings unrivalled knowledge of the Dutch market and regulatory environment as well as an extensive network that will benefit our clients and business.”

Alongside his role at BlackRock, Hommen continues in his positions as vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ahold Delhaize and chairman of the Supervisory Board of VolkerWessels.

From 2014 to 2015 he was CEO for KMPG, prior to that he spent four years as CEO of ING. Hommen has also been vice chairman and CFO of Philips from 1997-2005. Prior to that, he has held several functions at Alcoa between 1975 and 1997.
