Aberdeen Life appoints COO, SL Capital Partners makes promotion, SPGB Hambros completes Barings acquisition, ETF securities eyes German and Austrian sales
SGPB Hambros/Baring Asset Management
SGPB Hambros, part of the private banking arm of Société Générale Group, has completed the acquisition of the private client investment management business of Baring Asset Management in London and Guernsey.
Effective on 31 May 2011, SGPB Hambros said the transfer of the Barings private client team will reinforce its existing investment business, and illustrates the firm’s ambitions to grow in the UK and Channel Islands.
It is not known how many staff from Baring Asset Management’s private client business will be added to the 500-strong team of SGPB Hambros.
ETF Securities
Exchange traded products provider ETF Securities has hired Bernhard Wenger as a sales director for Germany and Austria, with the aim of growing its German business and building on relationships with existing clients in Austria.
Wenger moves from Austrian investment fund company C-Quadrat Kapitalanlage AG, where he headed institutional sales for Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe. He has also worked for Morgan Stanley, HSBC and BNP Paribas.
His new role began on 31 May 2011. He will work with Nigel Longley, sales director for Germany, and reports to Isabell Mössler, co-head of European sales.
