Pierre-Luc Charron, head of Convertible Bonds at Amundi Asset Management, will join InvestmentEurope’s Pan-European Fund Selector Summit in Lausanne on 9-11 April.

In his presentation, Charron will explain why convertible bonds are a risk-controlled investment for diversification.

Charron began his career in 1986 as a fixed income sales at BNP, then at SG Warburg and specialized on convertibles and equity derivatives products at Exane in 1995.

He was then head of equity derivatives sales department at Ixis Capital Markets and then at KBC Financial Products. In 2004, he worked at Société Générale’s equity derivatives and convertibles trading floor, before joining Amundi as a Credit and Convertibles Fund Manager, with a major focus on convertible bonds.

“Convertible bonds are increasingly popular as a large number of new issues have come to the market – close to $90bn in 2013 with popular names like Arcelor Mittal, Telecom Italia, GBL, Air France in Europe – but also due to investors’ appetite for this asset class. The main interest for an investor is the asymmetry of returns: partial participation to the rise thanks to the embedded call feature, and a “parachute” effect in case of downside through the bond floor,” he explains.
