Candriam names global head of Responsible Development

Brussels-headquartered asset manager Candriam Investors Group has promoted Isabelle Cabie (pictured) to the role global head of Responsible Development and appointed Wim Van Hyfte as global head of Responsible Investments and Research.
Both will report to Candriam’s CIO of Investment Management Vincent Hamelink.
In her new role, Cabie will continue building upon Candriam’s work in the SRI field since 1996.
She will be in charge of the development of the active ownership strategy (e.g. engagement, proxy voting), promoting SRI and leading Candriam’s corporate social responsibility policy.
Cabie has been global head of Sustainable and Responsible Investments at Candriam since 2010.
As for Wim Van Hyfte, joining from the firm’s quantitative team where he was senior fund manager and SRI specialist, he will be responsible for investment research and analysis on sustainability.
His new duties include the creation of new, innovative ESG products and investment solutions.
Vincent Hamelink commented: “At a time when investing based on ESG factors is growing in Europe as well as in the US, these new appointments will allow Candriam to further promote the concept and to continue meeting our clients’ needs.
“Isabelle and Wim will drive our commitment to developing innovative SRI products and services, publishing dedicated research on ESG issues, and strengthening the scope of Candriam’s proxy voting and engagement activities. We are planning to hire two additional analysts in 2017 to further reinforce the team.”
Candriam’s AUM managed under SRI criteria reached €21.6bn as of end-December 2016 (21% of Candriam’s AUM).
