The Pictet Group has appointed Laurent Ramsey, deputy CEO of Pictet Asset Management, to the partnership with effect from 1 January 2016.
Separately, Jean-François Demole has decided, after a 27-year career in banking, to retire from the partnership with effect from 30 August 2015.
Demole, who joined Pictet in 1991 and became a partner in 1998, will continue to contribute to the group through his roles as a board member of Banque Pictet & Cie SA and of Pictet Alternative Advisors SA, Pictet said.
He will concentrate his activities in the fields of private equity and real estate.
He joined Pictet in 1991 and became a partner in 1998. He has been responsible in particular for building the Group’s presence in asset services (including global custody and the structuring and administration of mutual funds) and services to independent asset managers. He also established Pictet’s advisory services to family offices in 1998.
Ramsey, who began his career at Pictet in 1993, will join the partnership formally from 1 January 2016. He will retain his responsibilities as deputy CEO of Pictet Asset Management, the institutional asset management, distribution and marketing division of the Group.
Initially an equity analyst, he moved to Asia in 1995 in a business development role for Pictet Asset Management. On returning to Geneva in 1998, he took responsibility for fund distribution in Europe, before becoming CEO of Pictet Funds in 2004. In 2011 he was appointed head of all institutional distribution and marketing activities.
In 2014 he was appointed deputy CEO of Pictet Asset Management, working alongside Renaud de Planta, partner of the Group and CEO of Pictet Asset Management.
