Swedish online bank Nordnet reports that its funds customers shifted their purchasing towards riskier assets in February and increased their level of trading.

The volume of trade jumped by 15% compared to January, with the buying dominated by Swedish and foreign equity, and the selling led by low yielding bond funds, the figures show.

“Investors are being tempted by the very strong stock market. From being very passive at the end of 2011 we now see that trade in funds is increasing,” said Jan Dinkelspiel, Nordnet country general manager for Sweden.

“Investors are buying Sweden and global equity funds while abandoning low yielding but safer bond funds. When markets are strong eyes tend to turn towards quick gains rather than avoiding losses.”
