Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) has appointed Robert Jamieson as group chief digital and technology officer across the retail digital platform and Janine Menasakanian as head of Distribution Strategy, Personal Investing. Both roles are newly created, underscoring Legal & General’s strategic commitment to the retail market and personal customers.
Jamieson, who reports to Mark Zinkula, CEO at LGIM, leads a new group-wide team managing Legal & General’s retail digital platforms, including LGIM’s workplace pensions and personal investing platforms. He will be responsible for creating a seamless and engaging customer experience. This initiative will start in LGIM with the creation of a savings ecosystem and a digital-only proposition for personal investing. The aim is to move away from a view of the customer based on financial products to one based on their needs.
Jamieson’s appointment is the next stage in Legal & General’s digital evolution. We have embraced innovative technology solutions to improve online experiences for customers, including its investment in and partnership with fintech firm Smart Pension in 2016. Smart Pension provides small pensions schemes going through auto enrolment with access to a range of LGIM DC pension funds via a digital platform.
He was previously chief operating officer of Legal & General Retirement (LGR) for over three years. He also led the development of a single, scalable administration platform across all LGR institutional and retail products, creating one view of the customer and single source of data for 1.2 million customers in late retirement. He implemented a technology-first strategy by introducing divisional technology teams, an Agile portfolio and fast-moving, continuous delivery models.
Janine Menasakanian joins LGIM from Vanguard, where she was head of Financial Institutions. She will support the development of LGIM’s Personal Investing business. She has experience in working with clients and customers and in previous roles has developed the distribution strategy for global banks, asset managers and family offices. She also instigated global relationship management models for financial institutions, managed strategic accounts and focused on new business development. She reports to Dame Helena Morrissey, Head of Personal Investing.
