The Spanish insurer Santalucía has named Gonzalo Meseguer general director for its asset management division.

Meseguer (pictured) will be responsible for leading Santalucía bet on asset management, started in 2015 when the insurer launched the asset managers Alpha Plus SGIIC and Aviva Gestión (currently renamed Santalucía Gestión), which gathered together up to €2.1bn in funds’ assets as at the end of February 2018.

The new Santalucía Gestión general director, who has over 25 years’ financial experience, joins the company from BBVA Asset Management where he worked as marketing and commercial director since 2011, responsible for promoting the sale of the manager’s investment funds and pension plans through the bank’s internal network. Prior to that, Meseguer worked at the insurer MetLife.

He also worked at various banking entities including Citibank Spain – where he held different positions as that of responsible for the wealth management and insurance division of the entity – or Banco Santander as director of marketing for international private banking.

Gonzalo Meseguer said: “Santalucía Group has made an important bet on asset management with the addition of both managers to its business. We aim at becoming in a reference for funds and pension plans in Spain, creating optimal solutions for our clients to help them reach their financial and savings objectives.”
