German GDP grew by 0.3% in Q4 2015 , boosted by domestic consumption and an increase in government spending, while exports continued to have a downward effect on growth.

According to the latest data released by German Federal statistics office Destatis, calendar adjusted GDP per annum was at +1.4%, employment levels remained high, with 43.4 million people at work, representing a 1% increase compared to the previous year.

Christian Lips, analyst at Nord LB comments on the results: “Overall, the hard economic figures are far from being a harbinger of economic recession. Nevertheless, the threat that market volatility could spread to the real economy persists unless the economic climate manages to turn itself around, this vicious circle will have to be broken.”
