HSBC has appointed Gerd Pircher as the chief executive officer for its business in Italy.
Pircher, who is succeeding Marzio Perrelli, joined recently the Italian operation in the role of deputy CEO. Prior to that, he held various senior positions in the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, and Europe.
Before returning to Italy, Pircher worked as HSBC’s regional head of global trade and receivables finance in Latin America, where he restructured the business in the region. Prior to this, he was the head of strategy and planning for HSBC in Europe, focusing on driving the launch of a commercial banking business in Italy in 2015.
Gerd Pircher said: “I am excited to build on Marzio Perrelli’s successful work and engage with our Italian and international clients. Together with my team in Italy and our colleagues across the world, I will focus on further expanding our role in helping Italian companies internationalise their business. We are committed to putting HSBC’s global network and capabilities to even better use for our clients.”
