Madrid-based Capital Strategies targets Peru

Madrid-based Capital Strategies Partners has partnered with family office Jay18 to cover the Peruvian market.

The distributor, which has operated in Latin America for nine years representing specialized managers, said it had decided to team up with Jay18 because it emphasizes having a local presence and wants to boost its business in Peru.

Jay18’s Jorge Velarde will be in charge of marketing a series of mutual fund and alternative managers to Peruvian institutional and wealth clients on behalf of Capital Strategies, according to a statement from the family office.

Capital Strategies distributes managers who together run more than $500bn, according to Jay18, including $62.2bn US manager William Blair. It has offices in Madrid, Lisbon, Lugano and Lima.

Jay18 was founded in 2017 as part as part of multinational advisory network Fortune Group Multi-Family Office. Velarde joined in April 2018, and he works alongside former Yosef Nahum, the firm’s founder, and former Bank J. Safra Sarasin executive Antonio Carranza.
