Seven Investment Management has hired Credit Suisse ex-head of investment management in London Martyn Surguy as chief investment officer.

He served as CIO of the private wealth management division for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Morgan Stanley. He also spent 16 years at Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche Bank, latterly as CIO for its international division and head of portfolio management in the UK.

Eaton Vance
Eaton Vance has hired Donal Kinsella as an institutional portfolio manager covering corporate strategies, as it seeks extend its London-based sub-investment grade credit team.

He joins from Janus Henderson Investors, where he was a client portfolio manager responsible for multi-sector, structured and corporate credit strategies for pension schemes and insurance companies across Europe. He also served as a trustee director, responsible for all decision making on Janus Henderson’s own DB and DC pension schemes.

London & Capital
London & Capital (L&C), the independently owned wealth and asset manager, has announced the appointment of two new partners: Robert Paul and Kate Miller.

Robert Paul, who co-leads the US Family Office alongside managing director Daniel Freedman, has been promoted to partner having joined the firm in 2013. He specialises in advising families on how to structure their wealth across borders, within the complex tax regime of the US.

Kate Miller, currently head of London & Capital’s Institutional division, has been promoted to partner having joined the firm in October 2017. Millerand the institutional team manage over $1bn on behalf of captive insurers, reinsurers and supranational organisations.

Trium Capital
Trium Capital, Alternative investment specialist, has hired former Eclectica AM manager Thomas Roderick.

At Eclectica, Roderick worked alongside founder Hugh Hendry for five years between 2012 and 2017 when the hedge fund closed in September that year. He started his career at Brevan Howard in 2008 and spent four years at the firm before joining Eclectica.

Loomis Sayles
Loomis, Sayles & Company, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, announced that Aziz Hamzaogullari has been named chief investment officer of the Growth Equity Strategies (GES) team, which includes the Loomis Sayles Large Cap Growth, All Cap Growth and Global Growth portfolios.

Hamzaogullari joined Loomis Sayles in 2010 from Evergreen Investments where he was a senior portfolio manager and managing director. He joined Evergreen in 2001, was promoted to director of research in 2003 and portfolio manager in 2006.

Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment
Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) ha announced that Michael Cole-Fontayn was elected Chairman. The term of office is initially for three years and Cole-Fontayn succeeds Sir Alan Yarrow, Chartered FCSI who has not sought re-election having completed nine years.

Following a 35 year career in financial services at BNY Mellon, Cole-Fontayn is Chairman of the Association of Financial Markets in Europe (AFME).

Carey Olsen
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has appointed Bernadette Carey to head up its trusts and private wealth practice across the British Virgin Islands and Cayman Islands.

She joins from another offshore law firm in the Cayman Islands and has a broad private client practice advising on wealth structuring and estate planning matters, including the administration, restructuring and termination of trusts, as well as probate and testamentary issues.

Investec AM
Investec Asset Management has hired Eric Fu as head of greater China, a new role based in Hong Kong. Fu was previously head of HSBC’s Asia broking services business.

Odin Investment Management
Odin Investment Management has named Richard Mayo as an investment manager. He will focus on managing discretionary portfolios for both private and institutional clients.

Having started his career in Jersey in 1986 as an equities trader, Mayo has an experience dealing in global equities and collective investments.

Bedell Cristin
Bedell Cristin has made a series of promotions within its financial services, property and support teams.

Within the financial services team, Richard Le Liard has been promoted to managing associate while Louise Hassell, Emily Nieuwburg and Laura Hendrick have been promoted to senior associates.

In the property team, Jeff O’Boyle has been promoted to Head of Property, Jane Needham to Senior Associate and Kerry Fernandes to senior property administrator.

In the support teams, Chris Fisher has been promoted to senior compliance officer, providing specialist advice for Bedell Cristin across Jersey and the BVI while Anna Ormsby is now a senior HR Officer.
