Zurich International Life’s chief executive Clive Baker, based on the Isle of Man, is to depart the company after five years at the helm, Zurich has told International Investment.
The announcement last night came on the same day as it was announced that Baker had been replaced by Peter Huber (pictured left) as Zurich has joined together its operations in the Middle East, Isle of Man and its Corporate Solutions (including Zurich Eurolife) as one team as reported.
Zurich said today to International Investment: “The announcement is an example of organised succession planning in Zurich, with Clive Baker deciding to move on after having completed five years as CEO, and Zurich rotating Peter Huber from a CEO role in another international market.”
Baker joined Zurich in May 2012 from Prudential, where he had worked since 1990, especially in Prudential’s Asia operations, where he worked for around 13 years in total, most recently as general operations and IT manager for Prudential Vietnam, from April 2008 to July 2010.
Zurich told International Investment that any suggestion that Baker’s departure was abrupt was unfounded, saying, “Clive has not abruptly departed and is still at Zurich International Life as part of a planned and smooth transition to Peter who starts on 18 September.”
