GWM Investment Management (UK), the new, UK-based, FCA-authorised business being launched by Dubai-based GWM Group, has named Tom Milson to the newly-created position of executive director.

Most recently, Milson, pictured, who has had 20 years of experience in the client advisory business, had been a senior private banker with Lloyds Private Banking’s London office, GWM said in a statement.

As reported, the new GWM Investment Management business, located in Cavendish Square in London’s upmarket Mayfair district, is looking to target UK-based, high-net-worth clients. It is being headed up by Chris Payne, formerly of Aspinalls, the London family office.

At GWM Investment Management, Milson will have “both client and business management responsibilities”, GWM said.

The GWM Group, formerly known as Guardian Wealth Management, has been providing financial advice to individuals and entities such as trust funds and pension funds since 1994, when it was founded by David Howell and John Hasbury, initially in Belgium, before expanding internationally.

In addition to Dubai and its new UK outpost, it currently operates out of offices in Geneva, Zurich, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong. It claims to have more than 7,000 clients and to look after client assets of around £1.4bn.

In a statement, Payne, whose title is managing director of the GWM Investment Management business, said Milson’s appointment represented a “marquee signing for our business, and a statement of our standing in the HNW private client arena”.
