Eastspring Investments has announced that it has reached a distribution agreement with Vontobel Asset Management to offer funds to Taiwan.

The Singapore-headquartered asset management company, part of UK insurance giant Prudential’s Asian asset management arm, will now distribute Vontobel mutual funds in Taiwan.

The cooperation offers Vontobel Asset Management access to Taiwanese retail investors, meanwhile Eastspring clients are now able to invest in Vontobel funds.

Eastspring already has a significant presence in Taiwan. It offers investment solutions across a range of asset classes including equities, fixed income and multi asset to retail investors.

Vontobel Asset Management describes itself as an active asset manager with a ‘multi-boutique’ approach. It offers access to its services via six investment boutiques: quality growth equities; global thematic investing; fixed income, Twentyfour, multi asset class investing. It also has Harcourt focussing on alternatives.

Ulrich Behm, chief executive of Vontobel Asset Management Asia Pacific, said that he believes that the cooperation agreement is mutually beneficial as it offers Eastspring the opportunity to offer additional investment opportunities to its clients in the region.

As of December 2015, Vontobel Asset Management said that it held (£187bn) €168bn in assets under management.
