Platform One, the UK-based international platform company, has named Clive Boothman to the newly-created position of group chairman.
Boothman, pictured, is a well-known figure in the UK and Jersey financial services industries. Previous roles include having been chairman and one of the founders of Ascentric, the UK wrap platform business, between 2005 and 2014. Prior to that he had been chief executive of Cofunds, and from 2009 through 2011 he was the London representative for Jersey Finance, which represents Jersey’s financial services industry.
According to Platform One managing director Michael Fordham, Boothman may be best known to many in the industry for having been the first chief executive of Schroder’s investment funds business, Schroder Unit Trusts, where, Fordham says, he oversaw the operation’s significant growth during the 1980s and 1990s.
An accountant by training, Boothman has also worked in international trust and private banking roles, areas that Fordham said he and Boothman will be looking to develop at Platform One.
Fordham, who was another Ascentric co-founder, said he was “very pleased” to be working with Boothman again, “as he brings a great deal of knowledge and experience” with him to Platform One.
He added that Boothman’s appointment was well-timed because it came as the company was in the process of actively expanding the range of services it offers to both the international adviser market as well as the UK’s “advised HNW sector”.
Platform One is authorised and regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, and makes use of MiFID to passport its services into all 28 EEA member states.
