Miton Optimal has announced Terrence Lundin to the role of independent financial planner. Lundin has been part of the firm for the past seven years and this appointment will also see him become part of the Isle of Man management team. Ludin left his native homeland of South Africa and lived in London for eight years, before moving to the Isle of Man at the start of 2008. Lundin said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to this role and I look forward to continuing to assist our clients as well as developing new relationships and helping drive forward the MitonOptimal business in the Isle of Man.”
Wise Investments, the boutique asset management firm, has hired Schroders’ former UK equity fund manager Philip Matthews. He spent five years at Schroders, and prior to that worked at Jupiter from 1999. At Schroders, Matthews ran the £900m UK Alpha Plus fund, taking over from veteran fund manager Richard Buxton in April 2013, as well as the £300m UK Growth trust.
Schroders, the $605bn London-listed asset manager, has appointed Peter Hall as global head of wealth management. Mr Hall, who stepped down in October as chief executive of Tilney, will take up his position in January. He succeeds Andrew Ross who will move to a new role as wealth management vice-chairman.
Maitland, the global advisory and fund administration firm, has appointed Tim Oddy as senior relationship manager for its UK and EU funds business. Oddy will be responsible for the relationship management of Maitland’s largest fund services clients, as well as helping to raise awareness of the the firm’s brand.
GAM Investments has hired Markus Heider as investment manager to join its emerging markets fixed income team, based in London. The team manages $11 billion as at 31 March 2018. Heider joins from Deutsche Bank in London, where he was global head of inflation research. He began his career at Deutsche Bank in 2000, before moving into various inflation and interest rate strategy roles.
Franklin Templeton Investments has appointed Aviva Investors’ Brendan Walsh as portfolio manager in its multi-asset solutions team. Effective October, Walsh will be responsible for developing the firm’s multi-asset capabilities while also contributing to the asset allocation strategy. Based in London, he will report to Thomas Nelson, senior vice president and director of portfolio management at Franklin Templeton Multi-Asset Solutions.
