BMO Financial Group has appointed David Sloper as head of Product Management for its asset management business in Europe, Middle-East and Africa (EMEA).
Sloper will oversee BMO Global Asset Management’s product range across EMEA and will drive product development in response to clients’ needs. He also joins the BMO Global Asset Management EMEA management committee.
Sloper has 30 years of investment and fixed income experience, over half of which has been at the Bank of Montreal. During his time at the firm, Sloper has focused on managing trading and investment portfolios. Most recently he was responsible for managing the integration of F&C Investments and BMO Global Asset Management.
Prior to joining the Bank of Montreal in 1998, Sloper managed proprietary bond investment and trading units at BBL London Branch and at Abbey National Treasury Services plc.
He replaces Martin Smith, who has spent 14 years with the firm. Smith will remain a member of BMO Global Asset Management’s Responsible Investment Advisory Council, which provides advice on ethical and sustainability criteria for the firm’s Responsible fund range.
Richard Wilson, Chief Executive of BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA) said: “David has an excellent overview of our global product range, having worked closely with our senior executives on the integration of F&C with BMO Global Asset Management. Our business is in an exciting growth phase, demonstrated by our recent distribution team hires that now draw on the full range of investment capabilities from BMO’s global stable. David will play a critical role in ensuring that our product suite equips our clients to meet the investment challenges they face.
“Martin has played a key role in ensuring our product range is fit for purpose and I am sure he will continue to play a valuable role on our Responsible Investment Advisory Council.”
