Crestbridge hires from Appleby for corporate services role

Crestbridge, the Jersey-based independent trust, fund and corporate services provider, has named Danny Cole a director of corporate services.

The position is a new one, and reflects recent growth at Crestbridge, the company said.

Based in Crestbridge’s Jersey offices, Cole, who is a corporate lawyer with more than 15 years of experience, will oversee the firm’s merger and acquisition deals as well as its handling of services involving complex structures and, as needed, will act as a director on behalf of a number of client entities, Crestbridge said in a statement.

Prior to joining Crestbridge, Cole held a senior role with Appleby, the international law firm, where he advised on corporate finance transactions, international mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, listings and regulatory issues, out of its Jersey offices.

Crestbridge said Cole has also “acted for a broad range of corporate clients both in terms of size and diversity of industry sector, as well as acting for banks, insurers and other financial institutions”.

Separately, Crestbridge said it has named Elliot Refson a director, also of its Jersey office, as it looked to build its so-called “ManCo” (management company) business on the island.

The Firm was awarded a license from the Jersey regulator to offer a ManCo platform   in November, 2015.

Refson, pictured left, joins Crestbridge from Jersey Finance, where he had been a business development director, representing Jersey’s funds industry. Jersey Finance is Jersey’s financial services industry’s business promotion trade organisation.

Prior to joining Jersey Finance, Refson held various senior roles at Ermitage in Jersey, where he both managed a global macro hedge fund and invested in other funds, Crestbridge said in an announcement of his appointment.

Being designated a “ManCo” means that Crestbridge is among a still -relatively- small number of companies in Jersey that are able to handle certain kinds of risk-management oversight tasks, as well as being able to oversee delegation for portfolio management, handle central administration and distribution tasks and related services on behalf of clients, according to the company.

In addition to Jersey, Crestbridge maintains offices in London, Luxembourg and the Cayman Islands.
