Filippo Noseda is joining Mishcon de Reya, the well-known London-based law firm, as a partner in its Private department, effective on Monday.
The position is a newly-created one, and comes as Mishcon de Reya is expanding its Private client practice, a spokesperson said. Noseda will be based in the company’s London offices.
Noseda, pictured, a dual qualified English solicitor and Swiss lawyer (Rechtsanwalt), comes to Mishcon de Reya after 14 years with Withers LLP, where he was joint head of the firm’s European private client and tax department.
Able to approach both common law and civil law issues from a practical perspective, Noseda routinely advises on the establishment and restructuring of both trusts and foundations as well as on UK and international tax and succession planning issues, including family governance and disputes, Mishcon de Reya said in a statement announcing his appointment.
During his time at Withers, he also advised a number of governments on the introduction of private foundations legal structures, and successfully lobbied the Swiss government on the recognition of trusts, Mishcon de Reya noted.
More recently, he appeared as an expert before the Council of Europe and the EU data protection authorities in connection with the introduction of the OECD’s Common Reporting Standard and the EU’s Beneficial Ownership Registers.
James Libson, head of Private at Mishcon de Reya, noted that Noseda’s experience with international issues would “complement our client base”, while also “undoubtedly helping] us and our clients to navigate this unprecedented legal and political landscape”.
As reported, Mishcon de Reya announced in January that its wholly-owned Mayfair Private division, an independent, high-end private client wealth advisory business it launched in 2014, was to open a subsidiary in Dubai, which it has now done.
Like the London-based original, the new Dubai office of Mayfair Private offers private advisory services to high-net-worth individuals and families based in the region.
