The Swedish Investment Fund Association (SIFA) has announced the appointment of Fredrik Nordström to the position of CEO as of October 2015. He is set to replace current CEO Pia Nilsson, who will retire.
Nordström has held senior positions in the pension and asset management industry, including the role of CEO at AMF Fonder, he has also been a board member of SIFA for several years and has gained experience in government offices including the Swedish Ministry of Finance.
“We are extremely pleased to have been able to recruit Fredrik Nordström. He has a solid background with extensive experience in asset management and is a skilled communicator. With Fredrik Nordström we want to continue Pia Nilsson’s commitment to savers and pension-related savings. Healthy competition in Sweden and in Europe are other important priorities Fredrik Nordström will now continue working on”, says Peter Branner, chairman of SIFA.
“It is an honour and a responsibility to be entrusted to take the baton from Pia Nilsson to lead the Swedish Investment Fund Association. Investment funds are one of the cornerstones of the financial system and give households, businesses and institutions easy access to equity and bond markets”, says Fredrik Nordström.
“A consequence of the fact that 4 out of every 5 Swedes save in funds is that funds and fund managers constitute a public interest. It is important to work with transparency to allow for comparisons and facilitate fund investors to evaluate their savings. The Swedish Investment Fund Association has a role in safeguarding confidence in the industry and the savings format, as well as to ensure adequate rule development that creates good conditions for both the fund management companiesand fund investors. These are issues that I feel are very rewarding to work with” Nordström adds.
