Well-known pensions industry personality, Bernie Saker, has joined Dubai based advisory group Holborn Assets as head of pensions operations.
Saker, who has previously worked with trust companies including PSG and Momentum, is an influential figure in the Middle East region and will be tasked with leading and managing Holborns’ pension operations which includes a team of 40+ individuals in Dubai, Sri Lanka and other international offices.
Commenting on her appointment Saker said, “Having worked with various pension trustee’s for 10 years, now felt like a good time to try my hand in distribution and be part of something bigger, with all the changes in pensions it creates a fast moving, fluid environment which makes it both challenging and stimulating, I look forward to joining the team”
Holborn is recognised as one of the leading pension transfer companies in the international market having reported increases in revenue of 57% in 2017 and has recently expanded into Malaysia, South Africa and Hong Kong.
Simon Parker, COO of Holborn Assets, said, “Holborn Assets has witnessed incredible growth in our Pension Transfer business over the past five years but to stay ahead of the competition and indeed pull away we are always looking to recruit the best talent available, Bernie quite clearly is that and also someone who has that rare combination of skills, experience, diplomacy, strategic awareness and technical ability to drive our pensions operations to the next level. We believe Bernie will add tremendous value to our overall client experience as we look to improve systems and increase efficiencies in these key areas.”
Saker will be based in the Dubai headquarters and head up a 40-strong pensions operations, admin and support team and service the 160 Holborn Assets financial advisers in the international market.
Robert Parker, CEO Holborn Assets, added: “With pension transfers being an increasingly provocative issue and a lack of understanding in the market having a transparent and consumer focussed centre is key to our business model. I am therefore particularly excited to welcome Bernie Saker onboard and know her wealth of industry insight built up over 30 years in financial services will be a huge boost to our clients and consultants alike.”
