Generali Global Health, the international health insurance division of Trieste-based Assicurazioni Generali, today unveiled a new flagship international health insurance plan, called Global Choice, for Spain-based groups “with globally mobile employees”.
UK-based Generali Global Health said it was partnering with its Spanish sister company, Generali España, SA, in launching the new product. It said the partnership arrangement would allow Generali Global Health (GGH) to distribute Global Choice efficiently to groups operating in Spain.
According to GGH, it has recently updated the Global Choice product offering since it was launched last year into a number of key markets, including the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, and thus the Spanish product “will include a new suite of healthcare services, which are all free to members”.
These benefits include:
• Optional genome profiling for members diagnosed with cancer. This swab-based test identifies which course of treatment is most suitable for the individual, based on analysis of their genetic profile, which means, GGH notes, that the plan member and their medical practitioner “can have greater confidence in their chosen treatment plan”.
• Round-the-clock access, from anywhere in the world, to “an internationally-certified doctor”, via a telephone or video consultation, allowing for, the company says, “earlier intervention, reducing absence and costs”.
• Access to a confidential and independent second medical opinion service. “Upon diagnosis, a specialist will undertake a detailed review of [the plan] member’s case; where the initial treatment plan cannot be verified, an alternative will be recommended”.
• An employee assistance programme designed “[specifically] for expatriates”. This service “provides members with 24/7 access to confidential support services [which are provided by experienced] multi-lingual experts”, and which “can help address a range of challenges” expatriates typically face, “from adapting to a new culture, to managing stress and anxiety”.
Marco Giacomelli, head of Generali Global Health, said the partnership with Generali España was an example of the way Generali is able to “leverage” its global network of businesses to benefit its clients.
“Global Choice Spain is highly innovative with a range of new benefits for members, he added.
“We are confident that these services combined with the comprehensive set of benefits provided by Global Choice will appeal to groups of all sizes with an international or globally mobile workforce.”
Founded in 1831, Generali currently operates in more than 120 countries worldwide.
