Newton IM
Newton Investment Management, part of BNY Mellon Investment Management, has appointed Andrew MacKirdy to its global equity income team, effective immediately.
MacKirdy holds over two decades of investment experience in global equity investing. He joins Newton IM from Polar Capital where he designed and managed the firm’s global equity investment strategies. Prior to this, he held investment roles at Lansdowne Partners, Baillie Gifford and Franklin Templeton.
Avaloq
Avaloq, the banking software provider, has hired a former IT manager Michael Pahlke from Credit Suisse.
He will work to expand the company’s operative and technical abilities as it bids to guarantee customer satisfaction. Pahlke starts in his new role on November 1 and will report to Juerg Hunziker, the CEO of Avaloq.
Pacific Asset Management
Pacific Asset Management (PAM), part of Sir John Beckwith’s Pacific Investments Group, has appointed former Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) G10 macro rates team, with plans to launch a fund by the end of the year.
The team is led by investment directors Shayne Dunlap and Richard Marshall, alongside portfolio manager Oleg Gustap.
Unigestion
Unigestion, the boutique asset manager, has hired two investment managers for its cross asset solutions team, joining from Bridgewater Associates and EQ Investors.
Salman Baig joined the firm in March from Bridgewater Associates where he was an investment associate and engineer. Prior to this, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Washington.
Joshua Seager joins the firm from EQ Investors where he was focused on asset allocation and quantitative analysis, having begun his career in 2012 at Threadneedle Investments. He will be based in London, focusing on the Alternative Risk Premia strategy.
Mirabaud
Mirabaud Asset Management has hired Selina Tyler from Hermes Investment Management as head of wholesale to start in November, as Paul Boughton moves to take a consulting role at the firm.
Tyler will lead the firm’s coverage of wealth managers, fund of funds and financial institutions in the UK and Ireland.
She will work alongside Paul Waters, who leads the firm’s institutional efforts, and report to Bertrand Bricheux, global head of sales and marketing.
Reyl
Reyl, the banking group based in Switzerland but also present in Asia, appointed Francesco Genovese as head of asset management. Before the move, he worked for Pictet.
Genovese spent 15 years at Geneva’s largest private bank and made himself a name as expert in state funds and central banks in the Middle East. His last position was head of asset management in the Middle East, Africa and central Asia.
AXA IM
AXA Investment Managers has hired BMO Global Asset Management’s Yo Takatsuki, who joins as head of ESG research and engagement on 1 November.
Takatsuki spent seven years at BMO GAM, most recently as director, governance and sustainability investment. AXA IM is moving into the next phase of its responsible investment (RI) offering by integrating ESG analysis across all of its investment platforms.
Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management
Canaccord in Jersey has hired Greg Powell as an investment director from Brooks Macdonald.
The appointment follows Tim Sanders’ appointment from Books Macdonald, who was named head of the firm’s Jersey office earlier this month.
Standard Chartered
Standard Chartered has named former First Abu Dhabi Bank senior managing director Rola Abu Manneh as the new chief executive of its business in the UAE, succeeding Julian Wynter.
In additional to serving as senior managing director, Abu Manneh previously was the head of First Abu Dhabi Bank’s corporate and investment banking division for the Abu Dhabi region. She also held senior positions in the bank’s domestic and international banking divisions and in wholesale banking.
