Lombard Odier Investment Managers
Lombard Odier Investment Managers, the investment management arm of the Geneva-based Lombard Odier banking group, has named Arnaud Langlois to oversee the launch of a new global equity long/short investment fund “with a sustainability focus”.
Langlois, pictured left, whose title will be portfolio manager, comes to Lombard Odier IM from Millennium Management, and will be joined at Lombard Odier IM by senior analyst Cyrus Azarmgin, with whom he previously worked at Millennium and, before that, UBS O’Connor and JPMorgan, according to Lombard Odier.
The new fund will launch in the second quarter with around $100m in committed capital, Lombard Odier IM said on Tuesday.
Langlois and Azarmgin have worked together on the same strategy for seven years at the previous companies they worked for, the asset manager noted.
Jean-Pascal Porcherot, chief executive of Lombard Odier IM’s 1798 Alternative Platform, noted that there is currently “high demand” in the market “for long-short funds and strategies which incorporate responsible investment” methodologies.
Lombard Odier IM said Langlois and Azarmgin’s new fund would complement the investment house’s existing range of sustainability-focused funds, including the the Lombard Odier Global Climate Bond, which targets investors looking to help combat climate change, and the LO Funds – Global Responsible Equity fund, which Lombard Odier IM says seeks to deliver “quantifiable social and environmental impact hand-in-hand with financial performance”.
BNP Paribas Asset Management
BNP Paribas Asset Management, the investment management arm of the Paris-based BNP Paribas banking group, has named Christophe Bonnefoux to the newly-created role of chief data officer. He joined the company last month, and is based in Paris.
Bonnefoux, pictured left, comes to BNPP AM from Arthur Andersen, Ernst & Young and Accenture Digital, where he advised management committees on their data and business analytics strategies.
In his new role, Bonnefoux will be responsible for data management at BNPP AM, including determining the strategic direction of data integrity and quality, defining the data quality management framework, and promoting and leveraging the usage of data management tools, the company said, in a statement announcing his appointment.
He will also endeavour to “make data management a centre of excellence across the organisation”, it added.
Bonnefoux is a member of the French Institute of Statistics, and studied business administration and actuarial and data science at IAE and at Pierre and Marie Curie University, BNPP AM said.
At BNPP AM, he reports to Fabrice Silberzan, BNPP AM’s chief operating officer.
Julius Baer Guernsey
Jean-Luc Le Tocq and Craig Allen have been named to the branch management board of the Guernsey outpost of the Zurich-based Julius Baer private banking group.
The company said the appointments come in the wake of “several years of strong growth in Guernsey”.
Both Allen (pictured left, below, with Le Tocq, right, and Stephen Burt, middle) joined the company in early 2016, and both are chartered wealth managers. They have 20 and 28 years of experience respectively. Both previously worked for Credit Suisse, with Allen as managing director and head of multi-asset class solutions UK for its Channel Islands and Gibraltar operations, Le Tocq having been a member of the bank’s executive board in the Channel Islands, with responsibility for relationship management and investment advice operations.
